Throwback Thaturday: “Pizza, Beer & Jokes” Poster Added to the Site
Ah, 2011. Barack Obama was president and Ke$ha ruled the airwaves.
I’m going through the process of adding favorite old projects to my website and I ran across this poster again. It took me back to the comedy shows my friends and I ran in college, and how fun it all was.
Pizza, Beer & Jokes holds a special place in my heart since it was the intersection of two things we had built from the ground up: it was a comedy show in the (newly opened!) attic of (my favorite!) campus pizza restaurant, and to give you an idea of how new the concept of doing shows at this place was, we had to find cheap lumber so my buddy Nemo could build a stage. It was also a comedy show to support Ohio State’s humor magazine The Sundial which we had freshly resurrected after 17 years out of publication.
Everything was fresh, everything was new, and everything smelled like pizza and beer. It was heaven.
Hopefully this poster takes you there the same way it transports me. I was brand new to graphic design so give me a break on this thing being rough around the edges. We all were. It was 2011.
