Lo-Fi NYC: “The Best of What’s Left” Poster
Made this poster for the season finale of Lo-Fi NYC’s first year of shows.
Since it was the big finale, I used photos of the team holding a big trophy from the end of the first-ever show. Used a bitmap halftone in the background to give the photos a dated feel and did a lot with offsetting elements and misaligning text & colors to give it the haphazard look I was using for Lo-Fi at the time.
I fooled around with the colors a lot before I settled on the orange & gold— my original ideas for the palette were inspired by the idea that these were sketches we’d rejected earlier in the year, and were now being resurrected from the graveyard. Thus, the “Frankenstein” and “Zombie” colorways you see before you.
In the end they didn’t pop as much as the gold, and if you want to end a great year of shows, you want to do it with a bang.
